This kit has been produced to enable quick and effective on-site calibration checking of Infra-red and Digital Probe thermometers. The Digital Probe thermometers can be checked as long as the probe diameter is no more than 4.5mm.

Infra-red thermometers are used frequently in areas where it is advantageous to check the temperatures quickly and without touching the products. IR thermometers are typically microprocessor controlled electronic units that convert Infra-red energy into a temperature reading. This is not an exact science and the accuracies obtained are typically within ±2ºC for industrial type units and ±1ºC for food grade units.

Many things can affect the reading such as emissivity and surface material.

This kit includes an accurate ‘hand held’ thermometer unit that is bonded to an infra-red target unit.

The kit contains everything needed to check the calibration of most types of IR and Probe thermometers.

The IR target has been designed to have an emissivity of 0.95 as this is the calibration standard of most units.

A calibration certificate is supplied with the unit and re-calibration should be done every year. Because we need to generate a calibration certificate at the time of sales, this process delays delivery by a couple of days.

The unit comes with full instructions and can also be used as an accurate thermometer with a selection of probes available to suit your applications.
